Tehran workers call for the expulsion of Iran’s Islamic Councils from the ILO
To ICFTU and world labour organisations
As you know, representatives of organisations such as “Islamic Councils” and “Workers’ House” are members of the International Labour Organisation (ILO). These two bodies are the Iranian regime’s puppet organisations, whose role is surveillance and conspiracy towards workers and assisting in the persecution of labour activists. One such instance was their brutal attack on 9 May 2005 on the [meeting of the] Founding Board of the Syndicate of Workers Tehran Vahed Bus Company and the beating up of members of that board such as Mansoor Ossanlou, who has been in jail for nearly six months.
The record of these anti-labour criminals, who feed off the Intelligence Ministry, is so dark and disgraceful that it is amazing that the ILO has accepted them as members, as “workers’ organisations”, and has not sought to find genuine representatives of Iranian workers.
While condemning this double standard and anti-labour policy, we call on international labour organisations to work for the expulsion from the ILO of the Iranian government’s hand-made organisations, as well as people such as Eiwazi [a delegate at this year’s conference], who were directly involved in the above attack, assisting the attendance of workers’ genuine representatives at the ILO conferences.
